Who We Are:

Our mission at Seattle Play Therapy is to provide quality therapeutic care for children and families. We strive to create a work culture that balances a supportive community while promoting individual professional growth. Most of our referrals are between the ages of 2-12, though we also receive referrals for adolescents.

What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for a remote office assistant to help support our growing practice. The ideal candidate would exhibit qualities that are in line with our mission and values as an organization. These include being passionate about children, social justice, mental health and the developmental and healing qualities of creative and expressive mediums (like play!)

Roles and Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Respond to referrals, manage caseloads, and match clients with therapists 
  • Manage new client screening forms to determine fit and assess financial needs
  • Book clients for parent support services where appropriate  
  • Provide referrals where necessary 
  • Keep referral list updated and accurate 
  • Support therapists and clients in initiating and completing client paperwork
  • Create new client charts and upload billing information
  • Provide general support to Director for administrative tasks, market research, financial tracking, drafting documents and letters, etc.
  • Take notes during team meetings for therapists
  • Manage shared calendar with therapists 
  • Work with the therapists to update any schedules and charts
  • Marketing and social media role is a possibility.

Essential skills:

  • Course work in Psychology or related field 
  • Highly organized, effective multitasker, takes initiative, excellent follow through and tracks details  
  • Willing to learn client care strategies for initial phone calls, crisis management, referrals, etc.
  • Effective and confident communicator both written and verbal (caring and empathic listener)
  • Tech savvy – can efficiently utilize electronic tools such as email, attachments, Microsoft 365 products (Word, Excel, SharePoint, One Drive, Teams, etc.), Zoom, Google Workspace, working in PDFs, saving and uploading files, Canva, etc.  
  • Able to work independently on tasks, able to problem solve and find ‘how to’ via Google/YouTube, etc.

  • You will learn about the administrative tasks associated with running a play therapy private practice.
  • You will receive mentoring from a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Registered Play Therapist.
  • You will attend bi-weekly team meetings and learn more about the field.
  • You will have opportunities to receive play therapy related training and other continuing education.
  • Flexible hours: 8-10 hours/week $17-19/hour DOE, W2 position, no additional benefits.
