Animare: Using Therapists’ Special Interest of Music in Play Therapy — December 1st, 2023
Animare means “to give life to”, and in this training, neurodiverse therapists will be given a frame for incorporating their full selves to “give life to” the work. This training integrates interpersonal neurobiology, neurodiversity affirming play and Child-Centered Play. Participants will be invited to create their own music and feel in their bodies an integrative experience of both the science and art of special interest play. Specific topics will include music as communication, music as a play object, music as an external regulator, music as an integrator, and music as a special interest. Two cases, a group and an individual will be used to ground the topics in reality. We will teach each other how to bring ourselves into the playroom “to give life to” our work without limiting the child’s space for self-direction. No previous musical talents necessary!
