Parenting can be the hardest and most rewarding job you have. We know that with the right support, parents and children can be the most successful versions of themselves!

Parent Coaching & Educational Consulting provides parents and caregivers individualized strategies that support your relationship with your child while tackling ordinary (and extraordinary!) parenting challenges.

Explore our various packages below to see what type of support would be best for you.

While our Parent Coaching & Educational Consulting providers are licensed therapists, Parent Coaching & Educational Consulting is a consultation and coaching service, not a healthcare service nor psychotherapy. Therefore, it is not billable to insurance or eligible for Health Savings Accounts. Psychotherapy is a separate healthcare service that includes diagnosing and treating emotional and psychological problems.

FAQ

Parent Coaching provides you with frameworks grounded in attachment research and neurobiology to understand your child’s behaviors and emotional needs. We meet with you to hear your concerns and ask questions to understand your values and your child’s needs. This informs tools and strategies integrated with current research on parenting and child development to support your child’s needs, while easing your stress as a parent/caregiver.

Common topics that we support parents and caregivers with include:

  • Bedtime battles / Sleep challenges
  • Moving from surviving parenting to responsive parenting
  • Responding to meltdowns
  • Navigating Two-Household and Co-Parenting situations
  • Adjusting to a new sibling / Sibling rivalry
  • Difficulties with drop-off and separation
  • Challenges with potty training
  • Parenting highly sensitive and neurodivergent children
  • Navigating school-based behavioral complaints
  • Difficulty with social interactions and play

We understand that advocating for your child in the school system can sometimes feel overwhelming. We collaborate with caregivers, teachers, daycare providers, and school teams to provide support and guidance on advocating for your child’s social, emotional, academic, and behavioral needs at school. Our approach embraces Neurodiversity, aiming to understand your child’s unique brain functioning and create tailored supports at school to help them thrive.

At times, we serve as a middle person between you and the school, facilitating understanding on how best to support your child’s individualized needs. As we often get to know your child and family well, we can also serve as a resource and sounding board as your child grows, develops, and encounters different needs in school.

Some of the children and families we work with seek support for:

  • Learning differences
  • Neurodivergent (ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, etc.)
  • Developmental differences
  • Sensory needs and sensitivities

For most sessions, we meet virtually with you over Zoom.

If you book a School Observation Package, your clinician will come to your child’s school and consult with teachers to observe your child in their classroom.

If you book an Office Observation Package, your child will meet your clinician in one of our playrooms at the Seattle Play Therapy office for observation.
