School-Based Play Therapy
Schools can partner with Seattle Play Therapy to provide specialized school-based programs on-site!
We bring the transformative power of play therapy directly to your school, offering structured programs tailored to support children’s growth and well-being. We provide developmentally sensitive interventions that support the whole child. Our strengths-based approach builds sense of self, social awareness, self-responsibility, and decision-making skills from the inside out.
How It Works:
1. Customized Programs
We collaborate with educators to determine the specific needs of your students.
Examples include:
- 8-week weekly play therapy groups for kindergarteners to boost social awareness
- 12-week twice-weekly sessions focused on self-regulation for elementary students
2. Funding Options
We offer flexible funding arrangements:
- School-funded programs
- Caregiver-funded programs
- Split funding between school and caregivers
3. Contracting
- For school-funded programs: Direct contract between the school and SPT
- For caregiver-funded programs: School facilitates contract between caregivers and SPT
4. Parental Consent
Regardless of funding, we always require signed parental consent for services.
School-Based Support Options offered by Seattle Play Therapy:

| Teacher Support | Individualized support for teachers | Provide strategies for managing the social, emotional and behavioral needs of certain children | $180/Hour + $30/day in person cost |
| Caregiver Psychoeducation Training | Group training/meeting for parents | Provide strategies and training for caregivers around a particular topic such as self-regulation, playful parenting, etc. | $250/Hour + $30/day in person cost |
* STARS-Approved Teacher Training
Our teacher training options are STARS-approved and offer practical strategies for supporting children’s social and emotional growth.
Topics include:
- Helping Children with Transitions and Change
- Fostering Friendships
- Working through Conflicts
- Supporting Children through Big Emotions
- Setting Limits with Children and more!
These trainings are designed to empower teachers with practical skills they can immediately apply in the classroom.
To Be Mutually Determined:
- Specific program needs, services to be identified, plan for action and timeline
- Finances can be paid by the school or arranged to be paid by the caregivers or split the burden of finances between school and caregivers
- Referral process, program tracking outcomes data to be mutually determined based on needs.
