Katie Gruver, MA, LMFTA
Associate Therapist
I became a child and family therapist because I believe that the environment we live in and the folks we are surrounded by contribute to our behaviors, our beliefs about ourselves, and to our healing.
As a play therapist, I create child-led spaces where kids can communicate in their most natural language: play. Rather than asking children to step into an adult world, I step into theirs. Through play, trust, and deep connection, children build confidence, process their experiences, and discover their own inner wisdom. I continue to be humbled and inspired by the powerful healing play therapy offers to kids and families.
With tweens and teens, I offer a warm, accepting, neuro-affirming space grounded in curiosity, self-compassion, humor, and authenticity. My therapy approach is low-demand and kid-led; I frequently lean into “non-traditional” interventions like art, taking walks, video games, movement, making music etc. as ways to explore your goals.
For my work with families, I bring more than a decade of experience working as a Parent Coach and Parent Educator. My foundational belief is that our children’s behavior is telling us something; our job is to listen. When working with me, we will explore brain science, child development, relational attunement and the unique strengths and needs of your own kid(s). We will target parenting tools that are built on respect, long term skill-building, and co-regulation. Along the way, I’ll be a teammate, advocate, compassionate listener, and someone who whole-heartedly believes in you and your love for your child.
