(3) Progress Notes in Child-Centered Play Therapy – July 19, 2024

Documentation is a source of anxiety for many Child-Centered Play Therapists. Despite the prevalence and the need for documentation of clinical work, many play therapists received very little training on how to complete progress notes. This training will review basic requirements for clinical notes, review types of note formats, practice using objective language, and track progress towards goals and objectives.

Prerequisite: You must have taken either [Section 1] Treatment Planning and Case Conceptualization in CCPT or [Section 2] Assessing Progress in CCPT prior to taking this training.

This four-part CCD training series offered in May-August 2024 is requested by Queensland Institute for Play Therapy (QIPT) in Australia. All current and alumni members of QIPT will register at a discounted rate. Non-QIPT affiliates are able to register for individual trainings or register for all four and receive a bundle discount.

Description

Learning Objectives: 

  • Identify the key components of a play therapy progress note as emphasized by APT Best Practices
  • Analyze progress notes to identify descriptive language versus interpretive language in a play therapy progress note  
  • Demonstrate ability to synthesize play and changes in play into language for a play therapy progress note.

  1. This training is Section 3 of 4 from the Child-Centered Documentation Framework training series. (Prerequisite: [Section 1] or [Section 2])
